The new Cooking Channel is giving the FOOD network some serious competition with unique, entertaining options like this one. Bitchin' Kitchen features Nadia G., an Italian, Canadian comedian. She's punk rock, in your face and knows her way around a kitchen. I admit, the phony accent (more Jersey bordering on Russian than Italian or Canadian) can be grating, but the humor, outfits, kitchen decor and surprises make it worth getting used to.
My favorite show so far had her cooking for her new man's parents. Best line from the show, "This dish will show that you almost give a f*ck!"
Rock on, Nadia! But, hey, have someone teach you the right way to do the universal, "rock and roll sign" (otherwise known as the "sign of the horns"). You need to fold your thumb over your folded fingers. The way you do it now you are saying "I love you" in sign language, probably not the effect you're shooting for, but hey, what do I know? Maybe you're cleverly combining the two signs to say I love you to a deaf rocker at the end of every show.
The buzz is mixed, but I'm going to keep tuning in hoping she decides to sell those rockin' leopard print oven mitts and guitar shaped spatulas on her website soon. My prediction? This chick is going to be the next big thing.

So You Want to Write a Novel
I haven't had this exact conversation with anyone, but I could have. Being a writer is like being a doctor; we attract people like magnets who wish to talk about their writing dreams, ailments, troubles and complaints. I love encouraging people to write. I really do. But, if one more person tells me they want to write a novel who isn't willing to join writers groups, take classes, read hundreds of other's novels and books on writing, or regularly write things that they know will end up in the trash because it's just not up to snuff, I'll be emailing them this video.
